The Resident Services Representative (RSR) is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to guests aboard the MV Malaspina, the first ferry that was built for the State of Alaska and now owned by Ward Cove Dock Group (WCDG), providing housing for seasonal employees. RSRs will be performing tasks in the galley, crew area, staterooms, and public areas aboard the MV Malaspina. Duties include janitorial, security and assisting in the galley.

Port Security Staff lead the charge in safety and security for the facilities and guests at The Mill at Ward Cove port facility working in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and Ward Cove Dock Group’s Facility Security Plan (FSP) to provide quality service to our guests and locals.

Retail Sales Associates serve as a customer service representative for guests at The Mill at Ward Cove; assist guests with purchases; prepare and stock merchandise for sale; perform inventory control duties; organize and distribute merchandise. Perform other duties related to the successful operation of the retail store including cleaning and moderate lifting.

Activities Guides are professional guides committed and focused on providing unparalleled customer service and have the skill and demeanor to facilitate a safe and fun experience for our guests. Guides will be rotated through different tours throughout the cruise ship season, so every week will be a new adventure! Guides will be cross trained in leading electric mountain bike tours, lake kayaking, zodiac, sea cycling and hiking tours, as well as rotating as a safety boat driver and/or camp hand.

Transportation Coordinators organize and operate Ward Cove’s shuttle experience. This is a position that works closely with guests, shuttle drivers, and the City of Ketchikan. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the shuttle service, assisting guests with boarding and disembarkation, maintaining safety and regulations, and traffic flagging

The Head Cook supports the kitchen operations aboard the M/V Malaspina by preparing and cooking large batches of food for employees and guests, assisting with food planning, and coordinating daily kitchen activities. This position acts as a communication and support link between line cooks and the Food & Beverage Manager but does not serve in a supervisory or disciplinary capacity.

The Whistle Stop Cook is responsible for preparing all food items needed for the Whistle Stop. This includes batch prepping, assembling simple dishes, stocking the service area, and ensuring all items are ready for quick grab-and-go or short-order service. This role supports the Head Cook and contributes to efficient, high-quality food service for guests and employees.

The Customer Service Supervisor will oversee and assist customer service employees in the performance of their job duties such as responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues or complaints.

  • Sign-On Bonus:  If signed-on prior to January 15, 2025, employee will receive $500
  • Retention Bonus:  Employees will receive $1 per hour bonus at the end of their contract
  • Travel Reimbursement:  Up to $300 travel reimbursement with receipts paid at the end of the probationary period
  • Referral Bonus:  Employees who refer other applicants that are hired and complete their contract receive $200 per employee, paid at the end of the season

Employee Housing

Spend your summer on the historic MV Malaspina, the first ferry commissioned by the State of Alaska. Entertain guests during the day and explore Ketchikan, Alaska by bike or kayak on your days off. Have fun and meet new friends in this unique living environment.

We charge a flat daily rate of $20 per person per day for a single room or $16 per person per day for a double room. The cost is deducted from your paycheck if you choose to stay in employee housing. The rate covers rent, utilities, cleaning of public areas, and Wi-Fi (guaranteed in public spaces). Also includes use of bikes and kayaks when available.

Dormitory-like housing with a cafeteria; most rooms are shared with at least one other employee and include twin beds and a private bathroom.

Coin operated laundry is available on premises.
