Activities Guides are professional guides committed and focused on providing unparalleled customer service and have the skill and demeanor to facilitate a safe and fun experience for our guests. Guides will be rotated through different tours throughout the cruise ship season, so every week will be a new adventure! Guides will be cross trained in leading electric mountain bike tours, lake kayaking, zodiac, sea cycling and hiking tours, as well as rotating as a safety boat driver and/or camp hand.

Transportation Coordinator will be cross trained on a variety of responsibilities to assist every department at The Mill at Ward Cove.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting guests boarding shuttle buses, outfit guests for tours, docent at the museum, lead gold panning demonstrations, run a cash register, sell tours, and provide information to guests about The Mill at Ward Cove and downtown Ketchikan.

Retail Sales Associates serve as a customer service representative for guests to The Mill at Ward Cove; assist guests with purchases; prepare and stock merchandise for sale; perform inventory control duties; organize and distribute merchandise. Perform other duties related to the successful operation of the retail store including cleaning and moderate lifting.

Safely transport guests through the Tongass National from The Mill at Ward Cove to downtown Ketchikan. Whether you like storytelling, touring, or just chatting with guests – provide your unique style of exceptional service here in Alaska’s new playground.  Advanced scheduling and an easy route make driving uncomplicated and fun.  Class B CDL required.

The Resident Services Representative (RSR) is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to guests aboard the MV Malaspina, the first ferry that was built for the State of Alaska and now owned by Ward Cove Dock Group (WCDG), providing housing for seasonal employees. RSRs will be performing tasks in the galley, crew area, staterooms, and public areas aboard the MV Malaspina.  Duties include janitorial, security and assisting in the galley.

  • Sign-On Bonus:  If signed-on prior to January 15, 2025, employee will receive $500
  • Retention Bonus:  Employees will receive $1 per hour bonus at the end of their contract
  • Travel Reimbursement:  Up to $300 travel reimbursement with receipts paid at the end of the probationary period
  • Referral Bonus:  Employees who refer other applicants that are hired and complete their contract receive $200 per employee, paid at the end of the season

Employee Housing

Spend your summer on the historic MV Malaspina, the first ferry commissioned by the State of Alaska. Entertain guests during the day and explore Ketchikan, Alaska by bike or kayak on your days off. Have fun and meet new friends in this unique living environment.

We charge a flat daily rate of $20 per person per day for a single room or $16 per person per day for a double room. The cost is deducted from your paycheck if you choose to stay in employee housing. The rate covers rent, utilities, cleaning of public areas, weekly laundering of towels and sheets (provided), and Wi-Fi in public spaces. Also includes use of bikes and kayaks.

Dormitory-like housing with a cafeteria; most rooms are shared with at least one other employee and include twin beds and a private bathroom.

Coin operated laundry is available on premises.
