The Housing Manager oversees and coordinates the housing operations of the MV Malaspina, ensuring quality service and accommodation for residents and guests. This role is responsible for managing resident relations, housing maintenance, safety compliance, and food service operations. Additionally, the Housing Manager supervises the galley operations to ensure efficient meal service and adherence to food safety regulations.

The Port Services Manager oversees and manages passenger-facing operations, including DOT-regulated CDL shuttle transportation, security screening for embarkation and disembarkation, traffic control, parking management, and site access. This role ensures compliance with all security and transportation regulations while maintaining a high standard of guest service and ensuring efficient passenger flow throughout the port.

The Director of Facilities & Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the repair, installation, and upkeep of all WCDG & affiliate facilities and equipment, including the MV Malaspina. This role ensures that all buildings, mechanical systems, utilities, and landscapes are properly maintained and in full working order. This role is also responsible for designing maintenance procedures, including procedures for work order management, and conducting facility inspections to identify and resolve issues efficiently. Additional responsibilities include trail clearing, landscape maintenance, and ensuring a safe and operational environment across all properties.

Transportation Coordinator will be cross trained on a variety of responsibilities to assist every department at The Mill at Ward Cove.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting guests boarding shuttle buses, outfit guests for tours, docent at the museum, lead gold panning demonstrations, run a cash register, sell tours, and provide information to guests about The Mill at Ward Cove and downtown Ketchikan.

We provide paid training at the beginning of the season and offer competitive pay, partially subsidized housing, and a fun team environment.

  • Sign-On Bonus:  If signed-on prior to January 15, 2025, employee will receive $500
  • Retention Bonus:  Employees will receive $1 per hour bonus at the end of their contract
  • Travel Reimbursement:  Up to $300 travel reimbursement with receipts paid at the end of the probationary period
  • Referral Bonus:  Employees who refer other applicants that are hired and complete their contract receive $200 per employee, paid at the end of the season

Employee Housing

Spend your summer on the historic MV Malaspina, the first ferry commissioned by the State of Alaska. Entertain guests during the day and explore Ketchikan, Alaska by bike or kayak on your days off. Have fun and meet new friends in this unique living environment.

We charge a flat daily rate of $20 per person per day for a single room or $16 per person per day for a double room. The cost is deducted from your paycheck if you choose to stay in employee housing. The rate covers rent, utilities, cleaning of public areas, and Wi-Fi (guaranteed in public spaces). Also includes use of bikes and kayaks when available.

Dormitory-like housing with a cafeteria; most rooms are shared with at least one other employee and include twin beds and a private bathroom.

Coin operated laundry is available on premises.
